Because the laser/light therapy does not damage surrounding skin, it is appropriate for spider veins on the face or trunk as well as vascular birthmarks such as hemangiomas and port-wine stains. Facial lesions will often be eliminated with just one or two treatments; however, birthmarks often require more than one treatment. There may be moderate redness and swelling immediately after the procedure and patients must stay out of the sun for four weeks prior to and after each treatment.
